Pastor John McDaniel, or Bro. John as he is known to the congregation and the community, has served as Pastor of Temple Baptist two different times, 1999-2011, and 2021 until the present. He has been in the Gospel Ministry for 48 years. Bro. John and his wife Diane have three married children and eight grandchildren.

After graduating from high school in Bristol, FL John attended Okaloosa Walton Junior College in Niceville, FL on a basketball scholarship. About a semester away from graduation he left school to take a job at Gulf Power Company in Fort Walton Beach. John thought this would be his lifelong job and he and his family would live in Destin forever.....but God had other plans. John began attending church with his wife and daughter. It was at First Baptist Church in Destin that he surrendered his life to the Lord. In 1976, following a trip to Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly in Asheville, NC, John knew God was calling him into the Gospel Ministry. He resigned his job at Gulf Power and moved his family to Deland, FL, where he finished his college education, receiving a Bachelor of Education degree. Two years later, John earned his Master of Divinity degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Bro. John was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in his hometown of Bristol, FL at First Baptist Church Bristol. Only God knew that he would become their pastor some 14 years later. Bro. John has pastored churches in KY, IL, and FL. He has taught school, coached ball teams, driven a school bus, farmed, and raised 3 children. But most of all Bro. John has demonstrated a love for people in all walks of life. It is his desire that everyone know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and commit their lives to the one and only true God, Jesus Christ. It's all about Jesus!
